Bajaj Auto has introduced the Chetak 35 series electric scooter in India, featuring significant upgrades in design, technology, and performance. The new lineup comprises three variants: 3501, 3502, and 3503. While the prices for the 3501 and 3502 variants are set at ₹1.27 lakh and ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, the pricing for the top-spec 3503 variant is yet to be disclosed.
The latest generation of the Chetak EV is built on a redesigned platform, incorporating a new frame that positions a 3.5kWh battery under the floorboard. This layout is designed to optimize space and increase storage capacity, with the scooter offering 35 liters of underseat storage. Bajaj claims the updated battery provides a range of 153 kilometers on a single charge.
In terms of design, the Chetak 35 series retains the retro-inspired look of its predecessors, with some modern updates. These include sleeker turn indicators, a blacked-out headlamp bezel, and a reworked LED tail light. The updates aim to strike a balance between the scooter’s classic aesthetic and contemporary styling.
The top-end Chetak 3501 variant introduces advanced features such as a touchscreen TFT display with smartphone connectivity, integrated maps, geo-fencing, and music control. Other key features across the series include a front disc brake, rear drum brake, and monoshock suspension at both ends.
Powering all three variants is a 3.5kW electric motor, which is expected to deliver smooth and consistent acceleration. The redesigned platform is also reported to improve handling and ride quality.
The launch of the Chetak 35 series comes amid growing competition in the electric scooter market. Bajaj Auto aims to cater to consumers seeking a combination of practicality, updated features, and performance with this new lineup.
