Hero MotoCorp has unveiled an impressive lineup of motorcycles and an electric scooter at EICMA 2024, marking a significant expansion in its offerings. Notably, Hero introduced its much-anticipated entry into the 250cc motorcycle segment with the Hero Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250. These new bikes set their sights on popular competitors like the KTM Duke 250 and Husqvarna Vitpilen 250, promising to bring unique features and aggressive performance to the market. Here’s a closer look at Hero’s latest models.

Hero Xtreme 250R: A New Streetfighter in the 250cc Segment

The Hero Xtreme 250R, revealed at the Milan Motorcycle Show, is based on the Xtunt 2.5R concept that debuted last year. This production-ready streetfighter is Hero’s first model in the 250cc class, bringing an angular, naked bike design to the segment.

Design and Styling: The Xtreme 250R boasts a sharp, aggressive look with an angular LED headlamp and LED DRLs, complemented by a robust, muscular fuel tank. The bike features clean tank extensions that match its angular styling, while the rear registration plate mounted on the swingarm lends a premium, European feel to the bike’s aesthetics.

Engine and Performance: The Xtreme 250R is powered by a 250cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 30bhp at 9,250 rpm and 25Nm at 7,250 rpm. Hero adapted this engine from the 210cc motor seen in the Karizma XMR, extending the stroke to achieve the new displacement. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, this powertrain promises a balance of performance and efficiency.

Chassis and Suspension: Underpinned by a steel-trellis frame, the Xtreme 250R offers stable handling with 43mm USD front forks and a mono-shock rear with pre-load adjustment. Riding on 17-inch wheels with broad tires, it features disc brakes front and rear with switchable ABS, providing enhanced safety.

Technology and Features: Equipped with a digital instrument console that includes a lap timer, the Xtreme 250R combines utility with sport-focused features. It is expected to reach the Indian market in the first half of 2025, following its public debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January.

Karizma XMR 250: A Sportier Sibling

Alongside the Xtreme 250R, Hero has introduced the Karizma XMR 250, a fully-faired sport motorcycle that draws design inspiration from Hero’s popular Karizma line.

Engine and Performance: Sharing the same 250cc engine as the Xtreme 250R, the Karizma XMR 250 also delivers 30bhp and 25Nm of torque. With a 0-60 km/h sprint capability of 3.25 seconds, the Karizma XMR promises thrilling performance for riders.

Distinct Styling: The Karizma XMR 250 has a streamlined, sport-focused design with winglets near the headlight, adding a visual edge. While winglets may have limited aerodynamic impact on a 30hp bike, they enhance the bike’s aesthetic appeal.

Ergonomics: Unlike typical sport bikes, the Karizma XMR 250 maintains a rider-friendly posture, featuring height-adjustable clip-on handlebars to balance comfort and aggressive riding.

Vida Z: The Next-Gen Electric Scooter

In addition to its motorcycles, Hero also unveiled the Vida Z electric scooter, aimed at both European and Indian markets.

Battery and Range: The Vida Z scooter is modular, allowing for battery configurations ranging from 2.2kWh to 4.4kWh. This versatility offers users varied range options, making it ideal for urban commuting.

Design: Compared to the V1 models, the Vida Z has a more rounded design, which gives it a modern and streamlined look. This design evolution reflects Hero’s emphasis on innovation and adaptability in electric mobility.

Hero Xpulse 210: Built for Adventure

The Hero Xpulse 210 is the latest addition to Hero’s adventure lineup, designed for versatile performance on both road and trail. Powered by a 210cc single-cylinder engine, it offers a balanced mix of power and torque for varied terrains. The bike features a steel-trellis frame with USD front forks and a rear mono-shock, ideal for stability and control on rough paths. Equipped with switchable ABS and a digital instrument cluster, the Xpulse 210 caters to adventure enthusiasts.

Expected Launch and Pricing

Hero has confirmed that the Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250 will be launched in India in the first half of 2025, with a price range of ₹2.10-2.30 lakh (ex-showroom). These models will offer competition to established players like KTM and Husqvarna while expanding Hero’s reach in the premium motorcycle segment.

Hero MotoCorp’s latest lineup is a clear indication of the brand’s ambition to enter new markets across segments. With the Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250 in the 250cc motorcycle category, Hero has made a strong statement. The Xpulse 210 is expected to launch in India by early 2025, it’s likely to be priced around ₹1.5-1.7 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as an accessible dual-sport option. Meanwhile, the Vida Z electric scooter showcases the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. This unveil signals Hero’s strategic growth, not just in India, but across Europe as well, making it a brand to watch closely in 2025.
