Hero MotoCorp seems to be preparing for the launch of Xtreme 250R in the premium segment. The naked streetfighter was recently spotted during a TVC shoot in Delhi-NCR, offering a glimpse of its sporty design and aggressive stance. First unveiled at EICMA last year, the Xtreme 250R is based on Hero’s newly developed 250cc platform, which also underpins the upcoming Karizma XMR 250.
The Xtreme 250R features a striking design with angular aesthetics. The front houses an LED headlamp integrated with a DRL, giving the bike a sharp and modern look. The beefy fuel tank and neatly designed extensions add muscle, while the sharply raked tail section and dual-tone red-and-white colourway enhance its sporty appeal. The bike also sports a two-piece stepped seat with a split pillion grab rail, a rear hugger, and a side-mounted exhaust with a silver heat shield.
Engine and Performance
At the heart of the Xtreme 250R lies a 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that churns out 30 BHP at 9,250 rpm and 25 Nm at 7,250 rpm. The engine, which is derived from Hero’s 210cc unit, features a longer stroke and a new crankcase. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, this engine propels the bike from 0-60 km/h in just 3.25 seconds.
Chassis and Features
The Xtreme 250R is built on a steel trellis frame supported by a 43mm upside-down (USD) fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. It rides on 17-inch wheels with wide tyres, while braking duties are handled by single petal-type disc brakes at both ends, paired with switchable ABS modes.
On the feature front, the bike is equipped with full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and even a lap timer, catering to enthusiasts who enjoy sporty riding.
Expected Price and Competition
The Hero Xtreme 250R is expected to be priced between ₹1.8 lakh to ₹2 lakh (ex-showroom). In this segment, it will compete with rivals such as the KTM 250 Duke and the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250, both of which are known for their performance and design.
Hero MotoCorp’s focus on the 250cc platform with the Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250 reflects its intent to strengthen its presence in the premium motorcycle segment. With its aggressive styling, capable hardware, and competitive pricing (if so), the Xtreme 250R is set to make a strong impact in the naked streetfighter category.
