Dear Ravi and team, I have recently joined a job in Pune, Maharashtra. I am planning to buy a car, and could not find any better person than you for suggestion on the same. My office is at walk able distance from my home and thus using car for office would be very very rare. I am recently blessed with a baby (3 months old), we are a family of 2 and a half :). My reason for buying a car is - 1) Whenever me and my wife want to pass time together on weekends (within city or at most nearby places) we want to take our baby safely along with us, and 2) visiting doctors for our baby's regular checkup. I am not sure that I will be staying in the present city or state or even India for more than 2 years (until my present job project gets over). I am earning around 1.2 lacs p.m. and would cap my budget upto 15 lacs for car. The questions are should I consider buying a new car or should I rent it whenever I need it (the risk is if its urgent to visit doctor it would be difficult to quickly rent a car)? If in your opinion I buy a new car please help in narrowing down the options. What things should I keep in mind before selecting the car make and model?
