Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to make its mark in the premium scooter segment with the upcoming Hero Xoom 160. Initially unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, the Xoom 160 aims to compete directly with Yamaha’s Aerox 155 while offering advanced features and a competitive price point.
Design and Features
The Hero Xoom 160 boasts a bold and muscular design, blending ADV-style elements with maxi-scooter aesthetics. Key design highlights include:
- Twin LED Headlamps with LED DRLs
- A tall windscreen and ADV-style front beak
- Muscular body panels and a sharp tail section
- 14-inch alloy wheels for added visual appeal
Practicality has been prioritized with features like a large under-seat storage compartment, a centrally located fuel tank with an external fuel filler cap, and a closed glove box at the front. The scooter also incorporates a fully digital, Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, offering connectivity features such as turn-by-turn navigation.
Engine and Performance
The Hero Xoom 160 is powered by a 156cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing approximately 14bhp and 13.7Nm of torque. For comparison, its rival, the Yamaha Aerox 155, generates 14.75bhp from its 155cc engine. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers, while braking is managed by disc brakes on both wheels with standard single-channel ABS.
Unique Feature
One of the standout features of the Xoom 160 is its keyless ignition system, offering enhanced convenience. The smart key enables handle lock/unlock, ignition control, and seat opening without manual effort. This, combined with advanced connectivity and practicality-focused design, makes the Xoom 160 an attractive option for younger riders.
Launch and Pricing
The Hero Xoom 160 is expected to debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. With an estimated ex-showroom price of around Rs 1.20 lakh, it undercuts the Yamaha Aerox 155, which starts at Rs 1.49 lakh. This competitive pricing, coupled with its feature-rich package, positions the Xoom 160 as a promising contender in India’s emerging premium scooter market.
