Mahindra is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle lineup, and the XUV 3XO EV is the next big thing on the horizon. Spotted recently in Rourkela, Odisha, the compact electric SUV was seen charging outside a showroom, offering a closer look at its design and features. This latest sighting provides fresh insights into what to expect from Mahindra’s upcoming sub-4-metre EV.
3XO EV Design
The XUV 3XO EV stays true to its roots, bearing a striking resemblance to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the 3XO. The design includes:
- Split Headlamp Setup: Circular projectors paired with C-shaped LED DRLs.
- Aero-Optimized Alloy Wheels: Designed to enhance efficiency.
- Subtle EV Tweaks: The EV variant features Mahindra’s signature EV logo, a new front grille, and updated bumpers.
- Additional Features: Shark fin antenna, black roof rails, and ORVMs with integrated cameras.
Notably, the vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera, suggesting an emphasis on modern tech features.
3XO EV Interiors
As in the case of its ICE counterpart, the interior design is expected to borrow heavily from the XUV400, but with unique touches to set it apart. Expect a dual-tone cabin with copper accents, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, physical climate control buttons, and a wireless phone charger. These elements aim to provide a premium and tech-savvy experience for buyers in the EV segment.
Powertrain and Performance
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is expected to be offered with two battery pack options:
- 34.5 kWh Battery Pack: Likely the standard offering.
- 39.4 kWh Battery Pack: Expected to offer extended range, shared with the XUV400.
This places the XUV 3XO EV as a smaller and more affordable alternative to the XUV400. Reports suggest it could feature a range of up to 300 km, making it competitive in the growing compact EV market.
Competition and Market Positioning
Positioned below the XUV400, the XUV 3XO EV is set to compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV, which dominates the compact electric SUV segment. With its sub-4-metre length, the 3XO EV targets buyers looking for a cost-effective yet feature-rich electric SUV.
Launch Expectations
Mahindra has been actively testing the XUV 3XO EV since its first sighting in August 2023, and with these fresh spy images, it seems that the launch could be on the horizon. We predict an unveiling in mid to late 2025.
