Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition, priced at Rs 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This special edition motorcycle pays homage to Hero’s remarkable performance at the 2024 Dakar Rally, where the company secured a second-place podium finish. Bookings for the bike will begin on December 18, with deliveries expected to start shortly after.
Design and Special Features
The Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition stands out with its Dakar-inspired livery. The motorcycle features the iconic Dakar logo prominently displayed on the fuel tank, along with unique Hero graphics on the side panels. It also comes equipped with a rally-style windshield, knuckle guards, and handlebar risers, giving it a distinctive and aggressive off-road look.
Hardware and Specifications
The Dakar Edition shares its mechanical DNA with the Xpulse 200 4V Pro variant. It boasts an adjustable telescopic front suspension with an impressive 250mm of travel and a rear adjustable mono-shock with 220mm of travel. The bike also offers a ground clearance of 270mm, making it highly capable on challenging terrains.
The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheel setup, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, complemented by three ABS modes—Road, Off-road, and Rally—for customizable braking performance.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition is a 199.6cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 18.9 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 17.35 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox. This engine setup, which was updated earlier in 2023 to be OBD-2 compliant and E20 fuel-compatible, remains unchanged in the Dakar Edition.
Pricing and Variants
The base variant of the Hero Xpulse 200 4V is priced at Rs 1.52 lakh, while the Pro variant costs Rs 1.65 lakh. The Dakar Edition, available for an additional Rs 3,000 over the Pro variant, is priced at Rs 1.68 lakh, offering enthusiasts a premium experience inspired by Hero’s Dakar achievements.

Hero MotoCorp’s consistent top-tier performance at the Dakar Rally—including securing a top-10 spot three times and the second-place podium finish in 2024—has solidified its reputation as a serious contender in the world of motorsport. The Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition is a celebration of this legacy, drawing inspiration from Ross Branch’s 2024 Dakar-winning motorcycle.
Looking ahead, Hero has unveiled the Xpulse 210 at the 2024 EICMA event. This upcoming model is anticipated to feature a new liquid-cooled engine adapted from the Karizma XMR, though in a slightly detuned form. The Xpulse 210 is poised to enhance Hero’s lineup of off-road and adventure motorcycles further.
