Job Description and Duties

Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the City of Norwalk.

Under general supervision, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (Safety) (LVN) provides general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally disabled individuals utilizing nursing and mental health principle to apply therapeutic interventions and modalities. The LVN demonstrates a basic understanding of nursing requirements of the adult and geriatric individual. The LVN supervises individuals’ activities and assists other disciplines in the provision of care as outlined in the care plans; collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team in the development and implementation of interventions and discharge criteria as reflected in the care plan; provides structure, and maintains a therapeutic milieu in collaboration with other disciplines and the individual; and motivates and assists individuals to develop self-reliance in activities of daily living.

Candidates must be willing to work in any Unit/Program and any Shift to meet the needs of the facility .

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
