SX4 is a highly underrated car which good built quality and safety. The diesel offers good mileage so is much affordable to run. The petrol offers lower mileage owing to the 1.6L engine. In the highways, you can expect nothing more that 14-15 when driven very sedately. If you drive it spiritedly, the mileage will drop to 12-12.5. I currently drive my father's 2010 SX4 ZXi so I can comment more about the petrol. We had to replace the steering rack and it cost around 30k which is manufactured by Showa and had to be imported from Japan. So parts like this will be costly but most of the parts like shock abs, bush mounts and suspension arms are manufactured locally so they are quite reasonably priced. The car is definitely much better than the presently available Marutis. Even after 11 years of usage, there is zero rattling noise of cabin plastic. You can easily sell the diesel after one year but if it's a petrol, don't even think of buying it since the mileage is on the lower end which makes it very difficult to sell in the used market.
