Maruti Suzuki showcased the production-ready eVitara, its first all-electric vehicle, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. With its launch expected in the coming months, recent images suggest that the car has undergone crash tests. However, these tests appear to be internal evaluations rather than official BNCAP or GNCAP assessments. Given its global presence, the eVitara is likely to achieve high safety ratings.

Maruti Suzuki eVitara Crash Test Insights
The images indicate that the eVitara underwent multiple crash tests. Maruti Suzuki has been focusing more on safety in recent years. The Swift became the company’s first car to offer six airbags as standard, and the Dzire earned a five-star Global NCAP rating under the latest protocols.

Although the eVitara’s crash test results remain undisclosed, expectations are high. Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara underwent Bharat NCAP crash tests in 2024, but its ratings are still pending. As the eVitara is a global model, it is likely to meet stringent safety standards.
Safety Features & Engineering Excellence
The eVitara is built on Suzuki’s HEARTECT-e platform, which features a flat floor for better cabin space. Over 50% of its structure consists of high-tensile steel, ensuring superior strength and rigidity. The chassis incorporates shock-absorbing mounting structures and multi-load paths to distribute impact forces efficiently, enhancing occupant and battery safety.
The vehicle also boasts seven airbags, TPMS, ABS with EBD, an electric parking brake, AVAS, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. Additionally, it will be the first Maruti car in India to offer a Level 2 ADAS suite.
Powertrain & Range Options
The eVitara will be available with two battery pack options—49 kWh and 61 kWh. It offers both single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD versions. The top-spec variant delivers 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, with a maximum range of up to 500 km, depending on the powertrain.
Manufacturing & Future Plans
Production of the eVitara will take place at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. A Toyota-badged counterpart, the Urban Cruiser EV, will also be manufactured at the same facility. The eVitara is just the first of four upcoming electric models from Maruti Suzuki in the next five years.
With its focus on safety, advanced features, and competitive specifications, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara has the potential to be the brand’s first electric car to achieve a five-star safety rating. Its success could mark a new era for Maruti in the EV market.
